Pollution and the Environment in the Short Term and For the Long Term

pollution and the enviroment

The two most important problems that have to be discussed on a daily basis are air pollution and the environment. One of them can lead to another and if not dealt with accordingly, both of them will get worse. There are several different types of pollution and the ones that are more common to our planet are acid rain and smog. These are normally the result of human error and also the result of some form of pollutants.

Acid rain is the result of excessive use of chemical substances like acid and alkaline. When these substances come in contact with the atmosphere, they react by producing acid rain. This happens because certain atmospheric conditions are present which produce large amounts of ozone layer. Ozone layer is a protective shield against harmful substances that come into contact with it. However, the harmful substances that come in contact with the ozone layer are oxidized. Therefore, the only way to prevent such situation is to prevent pollution from occurring in the first place.

An Overview

Global warming is another problem that affects the environment around us every day. It is caused by the emission of carbon dioxide and methane from the burning of fossil fuels like petrol and coal. When the environment gets polluted, it causes a number of problems like climatic changes, loss of food and water, disruption of wildlife, etc. On the other hand, pollution damages the ozone layer which is responsible for protecting us from global warming.

Some people might feel that April is not the best month to celebrate the Earth day as it is when we observe the end of the year. They could not be more wrong. We should all take note of the fact that pollution and environmental pollution have been around since time immemorial. The biggest thanks that we can give to nature is during the Greening Day on the second Saturday of April. Thanks to the efforts of the citizens of cities like Toronto and Vancouver, this day has become so much more than just a symbol of environmental pollution.

Pollution And The Environment

It is true that there are no celebrations on April’s Greening Day because the world is suffering from the damage caused by environmental pollution. It would have been better if the citizens of the countries around the world would have realized the importance of cleaning their environments before the Earth became unfit for living things. If you have children around you, take time out to teach them about the importance of maintaining clean environments. They will appreciate your efforts a lot more. While you celebrate the Greening Day with your family and friends, make sure you do your part to eliminate pollution and the waste in your surroundings. Help to plant trees so that they will not die out.

As soon as the day of April arrives, all over the world, we will see a number of events taking place. The first one is the Earth day celebrations, which are organized in many cities of the world. This is a day where you can show your support to the restoration of the environment. You can also send your condolences to those who have lost their lives due to pollution and the depletion of the earth’s resources. There are a lot of organizations, which have also taken up the cause of saving the environment and bringing it back to what it used to be.

A few years ago, there was this proposed amendment to the nation’s Constitution that would have ensured an end to pollution and the degradation of the environment. However, it was defeated by a large majority. So, now it is hoped that the nation’s leaders will once again put in place measures to save the environment and to prevent it from being destroyed once again. The amended constitutional amendment was rejected by a slim margin. The reason for the defeat of the amendment was that most of the voters did not believe that enough people were behind the effort to save the environment and they were afraid that if the amendment was passed, they might lose their rights to protect it.

Bottom Line

The second event is the Paris Agreement for limiting the carbon emission of the world’s power-producing countries. The Paris Agreement was signed by almost all the major emitters of carbon dioxide such as the United States, China, India, Japan, Russia, Europe and the United Kingdom. This was done in the name of helping the environment and attempting to reduce pollution and global warming. It is hoped that the efforts made in the next few weeks and months will be enough to curb the damage that has been caused because of pollution and the environmental pollution that has been going on for so many years.
